The Burlington Watch Company enclosed a variety of inserts when catalogs were sent to prospective customers. These inserts included additional sales pamphlets and order forms.

A brief study of these inserts reveals the extent to which the company worked to make the sale.

Today’s post features one of six panels from a folded pamphlet promoting the new case styles available from the Burlington Watch Company. These options were offered in addition to the standard designs advertised inside the catalog.

One of the panels contains sales copy related to the new case designs:

“Our PRIZE Cases Now Ready!

The contest among America’s best designers has now closed, the prize cases have been selected and Burlington watches with their special ribbon monograms and high-art prize designs are ready for the public.

Since we began the campaign on Burlington Watches, selling direct to the public, we have had so many orders from the best people, (bankers, wealthy merchants, railroad officials and others), that we decided to leave no stone unturned to give every wearer of the Burlington Watch Company the very best there is to be had as to every detail in watches.”– Pamphlet Enclosed within c.1911 Burlington Watch Company Catalog

Personalized monogrammed cases were offered free of charge and became a popular option for customers purchasing a Burlington watch.
