Watch Case Originality: How To Tell If Your Case is Original: Introduction Video
In this video, we discuss how to tell whether your pocket watch case is original to the movement and what to look for when evaluating a pocket watch. Extra screw marks around the rim or the case style being inappropriate for the movement are two signs the case is likely not original. Original cases should not be scored with extra screw marks and should also be appropriate for the production era of the movement.
Note: This video is intended to be a primer for a more complex topic. Exceptions certainly are known to exist, but this will help beginners know what to look for when evaluating a watch.
