Elgin National Watch Company Grade 373 “Father Time”
While several Elgin grades featured the “Father Time” name, this watch is from the first of only three runs designated for the Grade 373 production, manufactured around 1910. The 16-Size Model 14 movement features 21 jewels in raised gold settings, Hunter’s patent safety barrel, gold inlay, and is factory adjusted to temperature, isochronism, and five positions. During this era, premium hunting watches were waning in popularity compared to open face watches of the same quality. For this reason, only 3,000 of the Grade 373 movements were manufactured at the Elgin factory during the short time this grade was on the market.
Great information on the grade 373 HC FT, and also showing the beautiful images of the watch!
Thanks, Paul!
A very interesting read, thank you for your time and efforts. I wonder what a 373 is valued at now?
