The Elgin Grade 156 represents one of the finest 16-Size watches offered by the Elgin National Watch Company at the turn of the century. Elegantly finished with raised gold jewel settings, this twenty-one jewel movement sold for around $145 in 1915, approximately $3,700 in the modern economy.
Estimated total production for the Grade 156 rests at 3,200 movements. The company originally blocked 4,000 serials for production. However, it is estimated only the first 200 of the last run were actually manufactured.
