Similar to the sales catalog, when the Burlington Watch Company delivered a watch to a new customer, the package was enclosed with several inserts serving a variety of purposes.
The accompanying image exhibits the original invoice slip sent to each customer with their new Burlington Watch detailing the terms of sale. This particular invoice records the sale of a 0-Size Burlington Special Watch with “AJD” monogrammed on the hunting case.
A total of $5.80 was due upon delivery, and then the customer was required to make monthly installments of $2.50.
A brief search of census records reveals this Burlington watch was originally sent to Mrs. Abigail J. Dimmick, the wife of a farmer living in Otis, Massachusetts (near West Beckett).
